Many parents still choose the old-fashioned square (flat) cloth diapers, as it is the most economical diapering option. However, this requires folding the diaper to fit your baby. We've shown 2 different folds in the video below, and have diagrams of 2 other folds at the bottom of this page.
Square Diaper Fold #1
Fold bottom edge up
Fold top edge down
Fold top edge down again
Fold in top and bottom
Fold bottom up again to make a thicker absorbent pad
Fold up and...
Either pin or tuck inside a Velcro diaper cover.
Square Diaper Fold #2 (Very thick centre pad. Will not fit older babies.)
Fold C up to top edge
Bring C across to meet B, while drawing up D to meet A
(You should have a double thick rectangle with a 4-layer thick triangle) Make 3 equal folds to the edge of the triangle.
Pull upper (double) layer of triangle across the thick rectangular pad.
Flip entire diaper over.
Flip thick centre pad over and slide back.
Fold up and...
Either pin or use inside a Velcro diaper cover.
Square Diaper Fold #3
Fold the bottom up to make a rectangle as long as you wish the diaper to be
Fold right side 1/3 over
Fold left side 1/3 over
You now have a 3 layer thick rectangle with a 6 layer thickness at one end.
Place the thick end in the front for boys, or in the back for girls.
